Recipe - Haleem

Ingredients

Makes 12 Servings

  • 3 pounds Chicken Breast.
  • 1 box Shan easy cook haleem mix.
  • 1 large Onion.
  • 0.25 cups cooking oil.

Tools

  • Pressure Cooker
  • Blender / Hand Mixer

Instructions

  1. In pressure cooker, heat 0.25 cups oil with Saute setting. Brown chicken on all sides.
  2. Add 3 pounds chicken and 8 cups of water to pressure cooker. This does not need to be exact, adding more water later is easy.
  3. Add Shan Masala (spice packet from box of Shan easy cook haleem mix) to pressure cooker.
  4. Pressure cook high for 17 minutes. Natural release.
  5. DO NOT THROW OUT BROTH IN PRESSURE COOKER. Remove chicken from broth and blend using blender, hand mixer, or forks. The more blended the chicken, the thicker the Haleem will be.
  6. Add Shan grains and pulses (from box of Shan easy cook haleem mix) to broth.
  7. Add blended chicken to broth.
  8. Saute on medium heat 30 minutes. Stir frequently, making sure bottom does not burn.
  9. Chop onion into long strings and fry with oil. Use onion as garnish.
